Bamboo Hostel in Nadi Town, Viti Levu Island:

 

                    

 The Bamboo Hostel is the ideal location to begin a journey on Fiji, aptly described as “The Gateway to the Fiji Islands”. It is located in the heart of Nadi’s backpacker beach and a popular base for other travelers. The Nadi International Airport is just a 10 minute drive from the Hostel and it’s on the bus route for easy access to other parts of the island.

The friendly and helpful Hostel staffs add to the relaxed atmosphere which makes it easy to connect with other guests. The bar offers happy hour every evening, so it fills up pretty quickly and entertainment is offered every night.

The Hostel offers 24h free airport pickups, free Wi-Fi, CCTV security and a swimming pool right at the beach. There is a restaurant with great food, albeit a bit expensive, but there are lots of cafes and restaurants within walking distance to choose from. A supermarket and bottle shop up the road also offers other, cheaper, options.

There are different categories of dorm rooms to fit your budget with prices ranging from USD16/night for a 16 bed dorm with fans to USD22/night for 8 bed dorm rooms with AC. If you prefer to have more privacy, there are private rooms available from USD55/night. Though modest, all the rooms are clean, comfortable and serve their purpose.

Ratu Kini Dive Resort on Mana Island, Mamanuca group of islands:

 

                       

 

The Mamanuca group of islands, with crystal clear waters and sandy beaches lined with palms, are one of the most loved travel spots. Mana Island, one of the Islands on Mamanuca, offers fantastic reef diving and the Ratu Kini Dive Resort is the perfect place for travelers interested in diving and snorkeling. The Resort also operates a fully equipped dive shop offering a full range of PADI courses.

Other than diving and snorkeling, there are many other activities on offer: water sports, fishing, kayaking and fun nightly entertainment. You can also visit the island Modriki where the movie “Castaway” was shot.

Overlooking the ocean and the white sandy beaches is the Resort Restaurant which offers local tropical food. There is a little boutique shop where you can buy snacks and other personal items and an internet café. You are required to bring your own locks for the lockers in the common area.

The dorm rooms are basic but spacious and clean, though not all the rooms have an AC. The 14 bed dorm room costs USD16/night with 2 sets of showers and toilets. Private rooms are available at a higher price. All the room rates include breakfast, but you can upgrade to full board.

The Resort operates a private boat transfer from and to Fiji Mainland, which is approximately 45 minutes to an hour away, for USD70. If you miss their transfer, you also have the option to catch the South Sea Cruise from Port Denarau.Boat transfers to Beachcomber Island are also available, where you can catch the Yasawa Flyer that takes you to the Yasawa Islands.

  Blue Lagoon Beach Resort on Nacula Island, Yasawa Islands:

  

The Blue Lagoon Beach Resort is nestled in the beautiful, tranquil lagoon of Nalova Bay, facing south-west. You can enjoy spectacular sunsets, calm seas, amazing swimming and snorkeling on all tides.

Approximately 45km from Fijian Mainland, you get there either with a scenic cruise aboard a large Ferry or a seaplane. The staffs are friendly and very helpful and will assist you in organizing your travel from the mainland to the Resort.

The Resort offers a remote tropical island experience with a large focus on the Fijian culture. The strong connection with the local village of Nacula is apparent and a guided tour through the Village is offered. This is a perfect way to meet the families of the Island and experience the traditional craft markets. Other activities offered by the Resort include hiking, fishing diving and a visit to the Sawa-i-lau (limestone) caves.

At USD 13/night, the dorm rooms, all equipped with AC’s, are very clean, charming and accommodate 8 guests only. Facilities include Wi-Fi, complimentary airport transfer, a swimming pool, 24 hour reception, ice machine, Musical and Cultural Entertainment.

You get the chance to meet new people at the unique communal dining experience offered by the restaurant. There is an option for smaller tables if you prefer dining alone.

The beautiful plantation setting of Maravu Taveuni Lodge is an excellent base on Taveuni Island, also known as “The Garden Isle”. Scenic walking trails through lush vegetation surround the Lodge and a private white sandy beach is within short walking distance. It offers quick and easy access to fascinating jungle and waterfall hikes. Though not particularly fancy, the Maravu Taveuni Lodge is styled like a Fijian village and absolutely charming. It also has a small pool with lovely gardens.

All the accommodation offer beautiful views and high ceilings. The 8 bed dorm rooms cost USD17/night and bed linen is provided. All the rooms get daily housekeeping.

Facilities include a restaurant, bar, 24h electricity and free Wi-Fi in the lobby, pool, lounge area and restaurant. The Lodge also offers dive trips and courses every day. The “cliff top” lookout is an ideal spot to relax and enjoy the panoramic views of the beautiful blue Taveuni waters. There is an on-site café which serves à la carte and traditional Fijian meals using local seafood, fruits and vegetables.

Other easily accessible sights are Matei Village, which is a 3 minutes drive from the Lodge, and The Rainbow Reef, a 25 minutes trip away by boat. The famous Bouma Waterfalls are just 20 km from the Lodge.

The Lodge is a 5 minutes drive away from the Taveuni Island Airport and the Taveuni Ferry Wharf a 45 minutes drive away. Pick up from the airport and ferry wharf can be arranged with the Lodge at an extra charge.
